alleyways

April 6, 2010

One of my favorite things about Europe is the abundance of proper alleys.  Alleys with purpose.  Alleys that get used.  Alleys with life.  This is especially true in Prague, Czech Republic.  Walking through the city you can make up your own shortcuts as you go along.  Sometimes it works out, sometimes  you end up farther from your destination.  Doesn’t matter, because most streets you walk down are beautiful.  You know the fuckin cobbled streets and old, fuckin buildins and that.

Whilst in Prague for only two days I managed to take loads of pictures of alleys.  I just loved em.

Cincinnati is also blessed with alleys that loop between streets and behind buildings.  Unfortunately, I can only think of one that’s a pleasure to walk down.  It’s just off Vine St. between 3rd and 4th.  Home of O’Malley’s in the Alley.  Never been inside that pub, but it’s nice to cut down an alley in Cincinnati with some life.

The last night there we stayed out late drinking Czech beer and looking for trouble.  Only trouble we found was a bar called Pussy de Luxe.  Sounded like a perfect spot to end the night, the only bad thing was the 200czk price per beer.  Most pubs charged about 20czk per beer.  Needless to say, we did not stay at Pussy de Luxe.  Walked in, walked right back out.  I did get to see some Czech boobs though so not all was lost.

keep in mind i’m no TJ on the matter but i do believe the Pussy de Luxe establishment is some sort of a porn filming bar. i believe i’ve read something about how they have random guys come in, sell them ultra expensive drinks, and then let them be in a porno for free. i’m gonna go ahead and refer you to jackson tho for confirmation.

200czk for a beer?! That’s insane. They must figure the name will bring in foreigners who will pay that price. Nice pics– I’m glad you had the chance to explore some of the little streets and get off the usual path despite having only 2 days there. Beautiful city, isn’t it?

yeah it was great. the only bad thing was they were giving a facelift on most of the must see tourist stuff. charles bridge was half closed for repairs. the clock was having some repairs done. but it was all still lovely.
